July 10th— 2011 PCP ANNUAL RESCUE CLINIC July 10th at Jericho Lake in Aurora
This year we’re taking advantage of Geneva Kayak Center’s excellent teaching staff to provide instruction for our rescue clinic. The cost will be $75 per person and Prairie Coast Paddlers will reimburse $40 of this once you have completed the clinic, making it only $35 for members. This reimbursement is being provided to all who are registered club members as June 1st of this year.
Sign up for the PCP Annual Rescue Clinic by calling Scott at GKC at 630-882-9211 and have your method of payment handy. The deadline for members signing up is June 20th, and after that we will open up to non-members until June 27th (although without the reimbursement). Be sure to mention you're a Prairie Coast Paddlers club member to get the discounted $75 price. There is a limit of 20 students for this clinic.
The clinic will be held at Jericho Lake in Aurora, and will start promptly at 10:00 am. Be sure to arrive early so you're ready to start by this time. We will continue until 4:00 pm. Bring your boat, paddling gear, a lunch, plenty of water, and sunscreen. Also, bring any safety gear you have such as a pump, paddle float, towing rig and helmet. Dress for immersion. If needed, GKC has boats and equipment available for rent.
Skills to be taught: Solo and group rescue scenarios, including the re-enter and roll, paddle float rescue and improving on the T-rescue. Also, bring any new ideas to the class and we'll try them out!
Directions: Jericho Lake Park is at the intersection of Jericho Road and Barnes Road, in Aurora. Use the east entrance and we will meet at the boat launch. This is just west of Highway 83 (Orchard Road).
Let Steve Muntz know that you’ve signed up so we can take the appropriate money out of the treasury for reimbursing everyone who attends. GKC won't have information about the club membership reimbursement, so please contact Bill Silva, Brooke Gabris or Steve Muntz with any questions about this.
